Education Plans (RESP- Registered Education Savings Plan):Post secondary education costs are increasing at a dramatic rate. Research shows that the cost of post-secondary education in Canada is estimated to grow by 140% over the next 10 years. Furthermore, student debts are increasing. Despite the skyrocketing cost of education, less than half of Canadians are saving for their children’s college or university studies. This is where RESPs can assist you. The Federal Government will contribute 20% for every eligible dollar that you contribute to your RESP, up to a maximum grant of $400 per year, per student. When a student qualifies for education assistance, he or she will be entitled to the funds in their RESP. |
